Fellow Trollers,

 

      Our last meeting should have been on the 14th of February at the Watkins Glen Elks Club but I really don’t know how many actually showed up.  We were having our big snowstorm and I don’t know if anybody made it out.  I can report on our Annual Awards Banquet on the 3rd of February.  Forty eight members and guests showed up at the Decoy and we had a great meal and there were tons of door prizes.  It seems as if everyone picked up two or three prizes.  Jerry Perrin was crowned the Club Champion for 2006 but was unable to make the banquet while home recuperating from a broken hip and surgery.  Congratulations on the championship Jerry!  The top ten in the final standings received their point fund checks and they were respectively; Jerry Perrin, Russ MacDowall, Brian Ketchum, Dave Dimmick, Sean Morris, Joe Matwiejow, Walt Smithers, Dick Allington, Jim Teribury, and Scott Bodine.  Plaques for the largest brown trout, rainbow trout, lake trout, and landlocked salmon went to Jim Teribury, Russ MacDowall, Sean Morris, and Junior Oakes respectively.  Russ MacDowall also took the honors of the largest single day catch of the year with 26 pounds and 13 ounces on Seneca July 23rd.  Russ also took the plaque for winning our biggest tournament of the year the Seneca Challenge.  Congratulations to all for a great year of competition.  The year long 50/50 raffle, which we do at all our tournaments during the year, was won by Scott Bodine and amounted to $235.50.  Bill and Chuck from Seneca Marine also attended and donated some downrigger rods which we raffled off.  I will have to wait until next month to give you the winners of the rods. 

     Next on our agenda is our Fishing Tackle and Outdoor Show which will be on March 25th at the Watkins Glen Community Center.  Setup will be at 6:00am and vendors can start to setup at 7:00. The show will run from 9:00am – 2:00pm.  We will have last minute discussions at our next meeting.

      Our club is registered at tamiron.com so any member that orders Honey Bee and Optimizer lures can sign up under our club there and receive a discount of 10%.  The club also receives a check for 5% of total club sales.  Check it out.  Our next meeting, barring snow and ice, will be at the Watkins Elks Club on March 14th at 7:30 pm.  See you at the meeting!
