Fellow Trollers,

 

     Our last meeting was held at the Watkins Glen Elks Club on March 8th, with 18 members in attendance.  Our treasurer reported a balance of $5,042.19.  Our Fishing Tackle and Outdoor Show is this weekend at the Watkins Glen Community Center on Sunday, March 26th.  It will run from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm.  Vendors will be allowed in at 7:00am to setup.  Mike Burt reported at the meeting that 68 tables have been sold with a few more tables pending.  At the time of this writing I think we are sold out with 76 tables.  We hope for a nice day and a big crowd. 

     This year our tournament schedule has been shortened and we will have our meeting in April before our first tournament on Canandaigua, April 23rd.  Our second tournament will be on Keuka on May 7th.  Captains must be at the site of the weigh in and get a weigh ticket by 1:30 pm.  On Canandaigua we will weigh in at the south end launch in Woodville at 1:30.  On Keuka we will weigh outside of the park at the Route 54A Overlook in Branchport at 1:30. Entry fees can be paid at one of our meetings or may be paid at the weigh in prior to receiving a weigh slip.  Please make it easy on Walt and have your entry fee with the exact change in an envelope marked with the tournament, date, and Captain and crew listed.  This will help in crediting members for a club activity to ensure some funding at our annual banquet.  This newsletter also has a work sheet for the National Lake Trout Derby.  Remember this year is a bit different for the Seneca Challenge.  It is a point tournament this year and while there is no entry fee Captains must be responsible for working a shift at the Watkins weigh station to gain entry into the tournament.  We will work only on Saturday this year so the time slots may have several Captains signed up at the same time.  Simply stated, if you don’t work or have a crew member work for you at the weigh station you don’t get in the Challenge and that becomes a dropped tournament for you.  This year our points are based on the best seven tournaments with two drops.  Voted in to the club at our last meeting was Cody Zwanka.  Welcome to the club Cody!  Our April meeting will be at the Watkins Elks Club on April 12th at 7:30 pm.  Hope to see you at the show or at the meeting!
